About the Role
The Account Director serves as the primary client contact, managing relationships with Airline, Cruise Line, and Hotel partners to maximize client satisfaction and API's interests.
Responsibilities
- Oversee existing API accounts to maximize relationships and expand market share against revenue quotas.
- Collaborate with Research & Sourcing teams to provide destination details for seamless sourcing.
- Initiate the RFP process for destination sourcing, maintaining sensitivity to supplier relationships.
- Ensure RFP results are accurately documented in client presentations, meeting client needs, savings, and API revenue goals.
- Strategically plan and organize to maximize API revenue and client savings, including managing sourcing timelines for expiring contracts and renewals.
- Conduct domestic and international hotel site inspections with clients to ensure properties meet criteria.
- Execute hotel contract negotiations and renewals on behalf of clients, aiming for mutually beneficial terms.
- Monitor market conditions to maintain optimal rates, amenities, and contract terms.
- Conduct risk management for serviced destinations, proactively addressing potential contract risks and negotiating favorable terms.
- Maintain strong hotel relationships for contracted clients.
- Collaborate with the sales team to meet client needs and share leads.
- Manage crew member feedback via the online portal, addressing complaints promptly with hotel partners.
- Add new hotels to the system, ensure accuracy, and delete inactive hotels.
- Ensure negotiated rates for crew, business, and leisure travel are loaded and maintained on HotelExpress.
- Verify hotel contract information is loaded correctly into ACES for OPS and Accounting.
- Review ACES schedules monthly and assist the OPS department with hotel follow-ups.
- Verify client backup lists are accurate and loaded into ACES.
- Ensure all revenue opportunities are entered into the CRM with accurate business start dates.
- Ensure all hotel/airline and API commission contracts are loaded, executed, and attached to the CRM.
- Maintain all flight information.
- Understand client business thoroughly and ensure all deliverables are met.
- Propose new ideas and recommendations aligned with client business goals to create increased value.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team for smooth client transitions.
- Independently lead and make decisions balancing client and API needs.
- Manage all client communications, including performance meetings and business reviews.
- Own internal communications to the cross-functional team regarding client performance, strategies, and needs.
- Become knowledgeable in all API technology platforms to align clients with appropriate software solutions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the travel industry.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working closely with hotels.
- Ability to effectively manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Strong attention to detail and produces high-quality work.
- Ability to positively present API in customer-facing situations.
- Strong Microsoft Office computer skills, with emphasis on Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer/client service skills.
- Ability to work with and understand diverse cultures.
- An organized self-starter who can work proactively and independently.
