About the Role

Williams Jones is seeking an Equity Analyst to join their collaborative team. The Analyst will contribute to the team’s coverage of the Financials sector, broadly defined to include Digital Assets, Alternative Asset Managers, Payments, and Fintech Software, while also supporting firm-wide investment research initiatives. The Analyst will take full ownership of their coverage universe and will have direct exposure to the Portfolio Management team – including developing and pitching new ideas to the group.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fundamental equity research on companies within the Financials sector, including Digital Assets, Alternative Asset Managers, Payments, Banks, and Fintech Software
  • Maintain detailed financial models and valuation analyses
  • Prepare investment research reports, stock pitches, and sector updates for the portfolio management team
  • Monitor portfolio holdings, industry developments, earnings releases, and regulatory changes across covered sectors
  • Synthesize information from earnings calls, SEC filings, expert network interviews, and industry conferences
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers and fellow analysts to generate and refine investment ideas
  • Present investment recommendations and sector updates to the broader investment team
  • Support ad hoc research projects across the firm as needed

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in equity research, investment analysis, or a related investment role (buy-side or sell-side)
  • Financials sector experience is not required – strong fundamental research skills and a willingness to develop sector expertise are what matter most
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills (comparable company analysis, sum-of-the-parts)
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Bloomberg/FactSet, and financial databases
  • Strong use of AI tools and excited about incorporating AI into the investment research process
  • Intellectually curious, self-directed, and comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership over work product
