About the Role

As a Custodial Team Member, you will play an essential role in maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of our facilities through daily custodial and maintenance support. Your work helps create a positive experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming center environment by prioritizing and completing custodial tasks such as dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, restroom cleaning, and cleaning ceiling vents.
  • Communicate facility maintenance needs and operational concerns to center leadership and provide recommended solutions when appropriate.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and preventative maintenance checks to support the overall upkeep and functionality of the center.
  • Ensure designated supply areas remain fully stocked with necessary items including paper towels, soap, sanitizer, and other custodial supplies.
  • Empty, clean, and maintain waste receptacles throughout the center.
  • Maintain custodial storage areas in a clean, organized, and orderly manner.
  • Demonstrate and model the YMCA’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions with members, participants, staff, and guests.
  • Serve as an ambassador of the YMCA’s culture and impact by positively representing the organization and sharing our mission-driven work with others.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Organized, able to prioritize tasks, and handle multiple assignments.
  • Work collaboratively with others and support a positive team environment.
  • Listens actively and communicates clearly with members and peers.
