About the Role
The Director, Sales is responsible for managing regional public sector focused client executives to ensure profitability, sales revenue growth, and overall strategy execution. This position must consistently meet assigned Gross Profit (GP) targets while identifying growth opportunities with existing customers and new logos. Success in this role requires exceptional ability in hiring, developing, and retaining top talent.
Responsibilities
- Consults, designs, supports, and manages customer sales activities involving all company products and services, with a primary focus on the designated region.
- Manages, trains, advises, and motivates assigned team members to reach their full potential.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with key customers, with the ability to present in-person or virtually.
- Ensures strong market share for products and services by providing direction and information.
- Develops and maintains technical competency in all C1 products and services.
- Prepares monthly sales forecasts, budgets, quotas, and other projections.
- Analyzes sales records and trends against objectives and competitive activities, recommending corrective actions to the Regional Vice President (RVP).
- Develops a Business Plan for the area of responsibility aligned with short- and long-range company objectives.
- Keeps the RVP informed of economic, customer/competition situations, and customer business issues to generate strategies for achieving business objectives.
- Utilizes partnership programs and collaborates with customers and their other product/service partners.
- Manages Named Account Managers (NAMs) to ensure success with all service offerings from C1's business partners.
- Maximizes NAM results through continuous and proactive feedback.
- Expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints effectively.
- Stays informed on industry changes, participates in relevant organizations, and continually improves sales techniques and knowledge.
- Works independently and collaboratively with various company organizations and functions to achieve objectives.
- Adheres to company policies, procedures, and objectives, and accurately discusses these with NAMs and customers.
- Creates innovative solution concepts.
- Maintains strong executive-level customer relationships.
- Identifies team strengths and weaknesses and collaborates with extended teams to improve skills.
- Manages multi-vendor plans and relationships (OEMs).
- Recognizes and develops talent to build a successor and bench.
- Continuously seeks and recruits talent.
- Executes both the art and science of selling, utilizing specific sales methodologies.
- Helps NAMs qualify deals worthy of pursuit by determining priorities.
- Holds the team accountable for tactical execution.
- Manages deals effectively and understands the process flow.
Requirements
- 4-year college degree in Business or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of direct selling experience.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience.
- 3+ years in a Services/Sales Support management role or related experience.
- Strong Public Sector Sales background.
- Proven ability to maintain partnership programs with customers and their service providers.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
- Must be a total team player focused on the overall "big picture" for success.
- Knowledge of collaboration technology.
- Strong presentation, verbal, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated sales ability and technical aptitude.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Previous experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Strong territory management background, including growth plans, staffing, coaching, and exceeding quotas.
- Strong background and forecasting skills.
- Strong skills in developing and maintaining executive-level customer relationships.
- Excellent coaching skills to strengthen the team.
