About the Role
The Museum of Modern Art is seeking a Development Officer to manage the Contemporary Arts Council, focusing on strategic planning, revenue growth, and membership engagement for this important donor group.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategy, fundraising, event production, and marketing for the Contemporary Arts Council (CAC).
- Manage relationships between CAC members, the Officers Committee, and MoMA staff, representing the CAC internally and externally.
- Achieve annual revenue goals and increase CAC membership through recruitment, stewardship, and retention efforts.
- Oversee the CAC's annual budget, revenue, and expenses, including invoicing and financial reporting.
- Plan and execute meetings for the Officers Committee, Nominating Committee, and the Fund for Contemporary Art.
- Meet and exceed goals for three major CAC endowments and track their grants.
- Maintain knowledge of Museum programs and ensure alignment of CAC events with Museum priorities.
- Design and execute an annual calendar of CAC events, using data to inform programming and reporting.
- Create, produce, and host all CAC events, managing all associated details.
- Maintain the membership database, donor files, and departmental records.
- Identify members with capacity and interest for increased involvement and develop pipeline plans.
- Execute the communications strategy for the group, including mailings, newsletters, and acknowledgements.
- Perform other duties as reasonably related to the functions described.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and five or more years of experience in fundraising, membership, or client development.
- Excellent relational management, written, and interpersonal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience communicating effectively and confidentially with customers, donors, or members.
- Passion for working with people and managing a high volume of diverse constituents.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Interest in and knowledge of contemporary art, museums, and the art world.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace; Salesforce experience is a plus.
- Capability to manage budgets and generate reports from financial and other data.
- Requires on-site presence four days per week, with potential for five days, and availability for some early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
