About the Role

Episcopal Community Services (ECS) is launching a Flexible Housing Subsidy Pool (FHSP) program, an exciting permanent housing intervention focusing on rehousing SIP guests in private market units. This client-facing role requires in-person interaction and direct service delivery to participants at ECS program locations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists clients with finding housing that meets their preferences.
  • Helps clients complete housing applications.
  • Supports clients as they integrate into their new housing.
  • Works with partners providing housing-focused case management.
  • Supports clients in viewing units and completing applications for units that meet their preferences.
  • Provides education on being a respectful neighbor and responsible tenant to promote stabilization and successful tenancy.
  • Identifies tenant behaviors that may jeopardize their housing and intervenes when necessary.
  • Coaches tenants on relationships with landlords and/or other tenants.
  • Advocates for the client and assists with the resolution of disputes.
  • Responds to housing and tenant-related emergencies during normal business hours.
  • Advocates for and links tenants to eviction-prevention resources.
  • Conducts home visits to assess habitability issues.
  • Ensures clients have basic life skills, including home care.
  • Provides practical life skills training on site as needed.
  • Keeps accurate records and charts, and enters required data in CaseWorthy and ONE System.
  • Provides professional, accessible, and culturally relevant support, advocacy, information, and referrals to program participants.
  • Works within and promotes the integrated services team model in an environment dedicated to harm reduction, recovery, and wellness.
  • Provides referral services as needed.
  • Demonstrates behavior that supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Adheres to all program, funder, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Communicates effectively and models integrity, fairness, and ethical business practices.

Requirements

  • At least 1-year case management experience.
  • Experience in homeless and housing services preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and familiarity with using a computer.
  • Able to listen with sensitivity to other people's feelings, needs, and point of view.
  • Excellent working knowledge of houselessness resources in the Bay Area.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of and sensitivity to adults with substance abuse, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, mental health issues, history of trauma and co-occurring diagnoses.
  • Must have the ability to welcome and respect co-workers and client populations as unique individuals with different backgrounds, perspectives, and differences in personalities, skill sets, life experiences, and knowledge bases.
  • Must secure finger image screening and annual TB screening.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position which may include long periods at a desk and/or computer workstation, daily travel to various sites, and lifting of up to 25 lbs.

Skills

  • Bilingual, Spanish/English preferred.
  • Lived experienced preferred, but not necessary.
