About the Role

The Stationary Engineer provides operations and maintenance support to the facility, including repair, maintenance, and preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment as per the contract between Veolia and the client. This role reports directly to the Chief Engineer and is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the International Union of Operating Engineers – Local 39.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair boilers, heating pumps, valves, appurtenances, and lines for steam and heated/processed water distribution.
• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves, float valves, refrigerant lines, and devices for temperature control and entire air conditioning systems.
• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair pumps handling brines or other secondary refrigerating liquids, including associated valves, appurtenances, and lines.
• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair air compressors, distribution lines, and all valves and devices for air control.
• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair all natural and manufactured gas distribution lines, including all valves and devices for air control.
• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair water filters, softeners, piping, and pumps for water distribution, including sinks, toilet bowls, supply lines, drains, water lines, control devices, and sprinkler systems.
• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair all types of electrical motors and engines powering pumps, compressors, and fans.
• Operate and maintain all data center specific HVAC and Electrical Systems, including PDUs, CRAC Units, UPS Modules, Static Transfer Switches, Emergency Generators, Cooling Towers, Fans, Motors, Underfloor LDS, specialized Fire Systems (fire suppression, FA monitoring including VESDA).
• Perform appropriate levels of electrical work, including troubleshooting and repair.
• Utilize all necessary tools for the fulfillment of duties, including specialized equipment for operation, installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair all fuel oil systems, including pumps, valves, lines, and controls.
• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair building automation systems for HVAC, including consoles, data gathering panels, remote sensors, and indicating devices.
• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair all mail conveyor systems (excluding tenant-owned systems).
• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair sanitary sewer systems, sump pumps (including basins), water closets, urinals, and piping.
• Maintain, install, replace, and repair trash compactors, including electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Maintain, install, replace, and repair all kitchen equipment (excluding tenant-owned equipment).
• Operate, maintain, install, replace, and repair all life safety-related equipment.

Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the implementation of the above duties.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Local 39 Apprenticeship program preferred.
• EPA – refrigerant certification.
• Fire Pump license preferred.
• High Rise Fire Safety certification.
• Licensed for equipment – responsible per job location.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and carry materials up and down stairs with a capacity of approximately 50 pounds.
• Ability to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment, and communicate via portable radio.
• Ability to perform occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and entering confined spaces.
• Constant use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; frequent reaching with hands and arms.
• Ability to work in various positions, on ladders, catwalks, and supports at heights up to 50 feet.
• Ability to work with hands extended above and below head and body.
