About the Role
The Controls Integration Engineer is responsible for the technical design, programming, and integration of BAS/EMS systems. This role translates project scopes and client requirements into engineered control solutions, working closely with the Solutions Architect and project teams to ensure systems are technically sound and fully functional.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and configure DDC control systems for BAS/EMS projects.
- Develop sequences of operations, control narratives, and point lists.
- Integrate BAS/EMS systems with third-party equipment and building subsystems using open protocols.
- Conduct factory acceptance testing (FAT) and provide on-site startup and commissioning support.
- Develop and maintain project engineering documentation.
- Coordinate with the Solutions Architect to ensure accurate implementation and documentation of design changes.
- Provide technical support to project managers, field technicians, and commissioning agents.
- Support the development of standardized engineering templates, sequence libraries, and configuration standards.
- Troubleshoot integration issues and resolve technical problems.
- Participate in technical training and continuing education relevant to BAS/EMS integration.
Requirements
- 3-7 years of hands-on experience programming and integrating building automation systems in commercial environments.
- Proficiency in at least one major open-protocol BAS platform: Niagara/Tridium, BACnet IP/MSTP, Distech Controls, or equivalent.
- Experience developing DDC programs, graphics, and trend logs for HVAC controls applications.
- Working knowledge of system integration protocols including BACnet, Modbus, and LON.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings and sequences of operations.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve integration and communication issues independently.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, building systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience with Tridium-Niagara, Distech, or Delta Controls platforms.
- Experience with multi-site or national rollout deployment programs.
- Familiarity with energy metering, demand response, or EMS analytics platforms.
- Niagara N4 & AX certifications or equivalent manufacturer certification.
