About the Role

Throughline Strategy is seeking experienced health researchers to support our behavioral and implementation science team. This role involves contributing to high-impact quality improvement, research, and strategy projects within a collaborative, cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute quality improvement projects for scaling across healthcare systems in the United States.
  • Develop social science-informed project and grant proposals, recommendations, meetings, and workshops using healthcare research frameworks and methods.
  • Execute qualitative and/or mixed methods primary research, co-creation, and consulting projects, including IRB submission materials, interview guides, qualitative coding, analysis, synthesis, and workshop output development.
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of primary research and consulting projects, including developing screeners, managing recruitment, document management, building timelines, identifying risks, and solving project challenges.
  • Develop summaries and strategic communications to present primary research findings and complex concepts to a non-academic, business audience.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops.
  • Contribute to the development of case studies and new practice tools and processes informed by social science.
  • Help improve workplace culture and space.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a PhD degree in social science (e.g., Implementation Science, Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Science).
  • Strong critical thinking, qualitative analysis, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting primary research and/or quality improvement with healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers in various settings and geographies.
  • Demonstrated experience applying theory in a practical setting and adapting concepts for specific audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience explaining complex theoretical concepts to a lay audience.
  • Demonstrated experience working on short-turnaround projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience managing competing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience moderating a substantial volume of interviews and/or conducting several months of ethnographic fieldwork.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating large meetings.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and developing strong insights.
  • Passion for working in a health-related field.
  • Excitement for working in a fast-paced environment with project urgency.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Experience working in an office environment / corporate setting.
  • Technical literacy, including experience with G-Suite and MS-Office products.
  • Experience working in a cloud-based virtual environment with PowerPoint and digital collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Mural, Slack, Box).
  • Experience using at least one qualitative coding software (e.g., MaxQDA, NVivo, Atlas.ti, Dedoose).
  • Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada.
