Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of operational buyers to support procurement activities at German sites.
  • Coordinate workload distribution and ensure timely and error-free processing of procurement transactions.
  • Serve as the central escalation point for procurement-related issues and ensure resolution of operational and supplier challenges.
  • Manage and develop team performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) such as service level, order lead times, compliance, and cost-efficiency.
  • Conduct coaching, employee development, and performance management for continuous improvement of team competencies.
  • Ensure alignment between regional purchasing processes and overarching European procurement strategies.
  • Maintain close and trusting collaboration with internal stakeholders to optimally meet business requirements.
  • Take full responsibility for category management of Packaging and Fleet in Europe.
  • Develop and implement category strategies aligned with company objectives and cost optimization measures.
  • Lead strategic sourcing projects, including supplier selection, tenders (RFP/RFQ), and contract negotiations.
  • Manage and develop supplier relationships with a focus on performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement cost savings, demand optimization, and value-adding initiatives.
  • Oversee procurement for the fleet sector, including leasing, vehicle and forklift purchases, and supplier management.
  • Monitor market trends, risks, and supply chain developments to proactively adapt procurement strategies.
  • Ensure efficient execution of purchasing processes using ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms.
  • Guarantee compliance with purchasing policies, internal control systems (including SOX requirements), and governance guidelines.
  • Support and continuously optimize procurement processes with a focus on standardization and efficiency gains.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance and Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies and optimize payment processes.
  • Ensure transparent reporting on procurement activities, achieved savings, and supplier performance.
  • Build and maintain robust relationships with key suppliers at operational and strategic levels.
  • Act as an escalation point for critical supplier issues with potential impacts on business continuity.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders from Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and other functions to align procurement strategies with business needs.
  • Ensure effective communication and close coordination between regional and European stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in procurement, with solid experience in indirect categories.
  • Relevant professional experience in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, or a comparable field.
  • Demonstrated experience in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, and conducting supplier negotiations.
  • Experience in leading teams within a procurement or purchasing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement systems and ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or comparable systems).
  • Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken (both languages are mandatory).
  • Strong analytical skills, as well as negotiation and stakeholder management competencies.
  • Ability to operate successfully in an international matrix organization across multiple countries.
  • Strategic mindset combined with a pragmatic and implementation-oriented hands-on mentality.
