About the Role

YMCA Tomorrow Academy is seeking dedicated Early Childhood Educators (ECE I & II) to join our team and inspire our youngest learners in an infant, toddler, or preschool classroom. As a Floater, you will provide consistent support across multiple classrooms, stepping in where needed to maintain high-quality care and learning experiences. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to quickly build positive relationships with children, families, and teammates while ensuring continuity of care throughout the center.

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality care and supervision for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in alignment with YMCA Playing to Learn.
Serve as a flexible co-teacher across infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms, stepping into small-group leadership as assigned.
Establish and maintain responsive daily care routines, including feeding, diapering, toileting, grooming, rest time, and transitions to support children’s safety, emotional security, and independence.
Support observation-based curriculum implementation within each classroom, adapting quickly to age-specific developmental needs.
Maintain safe supervision and active engagement while adjusting to varying classroom ratios and schedules throughout the day.
Assist lead classroom educators with documentation, child portfolios, and daily family communication as needed.
Maintain consistent expectations for positive guidance, self-regulation support, and relationship-based interactions across all age groups.
Support Outdoor Learning Environments by supervising and engaging children in safe, developmentally appropriate outdoor experiences.
Perform additional classroom cleaning and sanitation duties, including disinfecting high-touch surfaces, vacuuming rugs, sanitizing materials, and maintaining organized environments.
Assist the Center Chef with food preparation, meal distribution, and sanitation procedures in accordance with CACFP, USDA, and health department guidelines.
Support daily opening and closing procedures, including classroom setup and breakdown.
Ensure compliance with Texas Child Care Regulation, YMCA policies, and health and safety standards.
Participate in professional development and team meetings.
Promote YMCA character values and serve as an ambassador of YMCA culture.
Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Experience in a licensed childcare setting preferred.
Minimum age of 18 years.
Have or be willing to obtain CPR/first aid certification, a criminal background check, and a food handler certification.
Supportive team player willing to roll up their sleeves.
Able to remain calm and effective under stressful or challenging situations.
Knowledge or experience with emergent curriculum and best practices in early learning preferred.
Availability to work Monday – Friday with a flexible schedule.
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, talk, and occasionally lift and/or move items, including equipment, furniture, and/or children.
