About the Role
Kaufman Dolowich, a national law firm, is seeking attorneys with experience or interest in Admiralty and Maritime law and Transportation law to join its growing New York team. Attorneys will manage litigation, engage with clients, and benefit from mentorship and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution
- Draft and respond to written discovery
- Take and defend depositions
- Prepare, draft, and argue motions
- Participate in court appearances, status conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and other litigation proceedings
- Develop case strategy and manage day-to-day litigation responsibilities
- Communicate directly with clients, providing strategic counsel and regular case updates
- Collaborate with attorneys across multiple offices and practice groups on complex and challenging matters
- Assist with trial preparation and other high-stakes litigation activities
Requirements
- Admission to practice law in New York and New Jersey required
- 1+ years of defense litigation experience
- Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to assume increasing responsibility
