About the Role
This role is about collaborating across disciplines to test hypotheses and make a difference to customers. As a product backend engineer, you will work in a squad alongside product managers, marketers, user researchers, designers, mobile engineers, web engineers, data analysts, business analysts, writers, and more. Together, you will build and support a particular part of Monzo. Our squads belong to our wider collectives, which are self-governing business units of approximately 100 people. These collectives include Core Banking, Business Banking, Wealth, Borrowing, Growth, Payments, Platform, Fincrime, Security & Expansion. Many of these collectives are at the forefront of innovative work, including machine learning and AI, from fighting financial crime to building smarter financial tools. You may have the opportunity to join a collective that provides direct exposure to this exciting space.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate across disciplines to test hypotheses and make a difference to customers.
- Build and support a particular part of Monzo within a squad.
- Work with product managers, marketers, user researchers, designers, mobile engineers, web engineers, data analysts, business analysts, writers, and more.
- Contribute to open source software.
Requirements
- Strong experience working on the backend of a technology product.
- Desire to be involved in building a product that you and your network use every day.
- Product mindset: care about customer outcomes and make data-informed decisions.
- Comfortable working in a team that deals with ambiguity.
- Interest in distributed systems and writing resilient software.
- Some experience with strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, Scala etc.).
- Think you'd enjoy the kind of work we're doing.
- Experience with Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Envoy Proxy, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and React is beneficial.
