About the Role
Arcadis is seeking a Cost Estimator to join our Resilience Water Northeast team in New York. This role is key to supporting clients on complex, high-impact projects by reviewing constructability, performing quantity takeoffs, and developing cost estimates reflecting current market conditions, primarily for public sector projects. The position supports pre-construction projects nationwide and construction-phase projects in the NYC and Westchester area, potentially requiring field visits. You will leverage cost estimating expertise to ensure project budgets remain accurate throughout the project life-cycle.
Responsibilities
- Develop cost estimates from conceptual design through 100% design, including quantity takeoff, pricing, vendor price verification, evaluation of historical cost data, and preparation of markups and indirect cost estimates in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
- Review cost estimates prepared by consulting engineers for client planning, design and construction projects.
- Advise on current market conditions and standard estimating practices and provide final recommendations on construction budgets for design projects.
- Prepare independent estimates for change orders, review and analyze contractor change proposal requests, and facilitate negotiations involving associated cost and schedule impacts.
- Prepare written basis of estimate reports to communicate cost estimating methodology, assumptions, and/or cost analysis findings to various stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the Arcadis Digital Solutions Team to develop and implement cost data analytics and interactive reporting solutions using tools such as PowerApps and Power BI.
- Deliver presentations in-person and virtually for client meetings and industry organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
- 8 or more years’ experience as an estimator
Skills
- Proficiency with Sage Estimating (Timberline), MII, or similar estimating software
- Proficiency with Bluebeam or On-Screen takeoff tool
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite
- Ability to develop a CPM schedule in Primavera P6
