About the Role
The General Manager (GM) will lead a business unit within a fast-growing property management firm, with direct responsibility for clients, team, and P&L. This involves evolving a founder-led organization into a profitable and scalable business by protecting client and employee relationships, driving operational efficiency, and integrating back-office functions.
Responsibilities
- Set the long-term strategy for Target and establish the tactical business plan.
- Create the framework to track progress against the business plan.
- Set a high standard for performance and hold the team accountable.
- Lead from the field, spending time on property visits, client meetings, and with on-site teams.
- Build trust with Target’s owners and take ownership of key client relationships.
- Assume all management responsibilities over Target’s team, communicating clearly and establishing credibility.
- Drive continued growth in Target’s units under management by adding new clients and expanding with existing ones.
- Grow revenue per unit by attaching additional services.
- Identify areas of inefficiency in Target’s business model and execute a plan to address them.
- Optimize Target’s business to increase profitability while maintaining high customer satisfaction and minimizing churn.
- Pursue long-term efficiencies through selective integration between Target and the broader Bay Area Platform.
Requirements
- Track record of leadership, including setting strategy, driving accountability, and managing performance.
- Experience across office and field teams preferred.
- Direct accountability for the financial results of a business or business unit.
- Demonstrated ability to grow revenue and improve profitability.
- Experience guiding an organization through a transition, integration, or reorganization.
- Ability to protect key client and employee relationships during change.
