About the Role

The Financial Controller will strengthen Verity’s financial control, reporting, and operational finance capabilities. This role will deliver accurate financial information, maintain robust controls, and support scalable finance processes, partnering effectively with stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Owning the month-end close process, including accurate management accounts, consolidations, cost reviews and board reporting.
  • Ensuring accurate revenue recognition across Verity’s product and service lines.
  • Maintaining robust balance sheet reconciliations, internal controls and cash flow visibility.
  • Reviewing and approving UK and US payroll monthly.
  • Managing financial reporting, budgeting and reforecasting processes, streamlining where possible.
  • Supporting the business with KPIs, reporting and performance insight.
  • Acting as a key finance contact for external stakeholders, including banks, auditors and financial advisers.
  • Coordinating half-year and year-end reporting, external audit activity, statutory accounts preparation and tax filing obligations.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, strengthen controls and increase efficiency.
  • Supporting the ongoing development of Verity’s finance technology stack, with a focus on automation, scalability and security.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant, ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent, with proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior finance role.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK and/or international accounting standards.
  • Experience delivering management accounts, reporting, reconciliations, audit support, payroll review and financial controls in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and numerical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems, reporting tools and data.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Track record of improving finance processes, strengthening controls and supporting scalable ways of working.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed environment would be advantageous.
  • Sound judgement, ownership and curiosity.
  • Comfortable getting into the detail, but also able to step back, simplify complexity and help others understand what the numbers mean.
  • Calm, credible judgement, with the ability to create clarity in a busy, fast-moving environment.
