About the Role

Checkout.com is seeking a Data Scientist to design, experiment with, and implement new estimators, models, and features to optimize payment performance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance core offerings, protect customer lifetime value, and ensure robust model observability.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop ML models and estimators to improve Acceptance Rate performance.
  • Design and implement experiments to generate actionable insights while managing data leakage and ensuring robust evaluation.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists and engineers to productionize ML features and models.
  • Evolve evaluation and monitoring frameworks.
  • Write high-quality, interpretable Python code for feature engineering and model training.
  • Communicate hypotheses, results, and monitoring dashboards to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience developing machine learning models for business problems.
  • Strong understanding of supervised ML algorithms, tuning, and performance evaluation.
  • Experience with diverse feature engineering techniques such as target encoding.
  • Solid grasp of frequentist and Bayesian statistics for parameter estimation and experimentation.
  • Experience writing clean, production-grade Python code for model training and inference.
  • Interest in leveraging LLMs for coding support and process optimization.
