About the Role

We are a modern, state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center seeking a Surgery Scheduler/Insurance Verification Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Opens the Front Office of the Center before first patient check-ins
  • Welcomes patients, families, physicians, and visitors to the surgery center either in person or over the phone
  • Performs pre-registration and registration of patients, including entering insurance and demographic information, and consent forms into the EMR system
  • Completes insurance verifications
  • Notifies patients of insurance coverage and copay/coinsurance responsibilities
  • Receives and directs phone calls, distributes mail and messages, and assists the business office as necessary
  • Prepares patient documents
  • Accepts and posts payments
  • Works directly with clinical staff members to understand procedure lengths, room availability, and special supply needs
  • Coordinates schedule with the anesthesia group
  • Maintains the Front Desk area
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization
  • Additional languages preferred
  • Knowledge of EMR systems
  • Knowledge of commercial and private insurance plans
  • Knowledge of Google Suite
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification or willingness to complete by start date
