About the Role

Wetherby Kensington is a two form, non-selective, pre-preparatory school for boys from Reception to Year 3, integral to the Wetherby Group of schools. It provides high levels of academic education and pastoral care and is part of the Alpha Plus Group.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a warm, caring environment for children.
  • Prepare and carry out delegated tasks.
  • Ensure child safety and access to learning.
  • Build positive relationships tailored to individual child needs.
  • Assist with Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
  • Encourage peer interaction and engagement.
  • Promote self-esteem and independence.
  • Provide progress feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Maintain positive relationships with parents.
  • Maintain a purposeful classroom environment.
  • Monitor and record child progress and achievement.
  • Support lesson planning.
  • Manage behavior in line with school policy.
  • Deliver structured learning activities adjusted to student responses.
  • Support literacy, numeracy, and ICT programs.
  • Prepare and maintain resources for lessons.
  • Comply with all school policies including safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection.
  • Support equal access to learning.
  • Contribute to the school's ethos and values.
  • Attend relevant meetings and training.
  • Accompany staff and pupils on educational visits.
  • Promote the welfare of all children and report concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or Head.

Requirements

  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner who values children.
  • Have high, though realistic expectations of the children.
  • Be IT literate, with effective use of IT to support learning and use of a variety of digital technology.
  • Have a general understanding of the National Curriculum.
  • Have a general understanding of child development and learning.
  • Have the ability to think on their feet and adapt activities according to individual needs.
  • Be committed to making a difference to all children of all abilities and talents, using a variety of teaching styles to aid learning.
  • Be a committed, dynamic, and pro-active LSA.
  • Be a cheerful, friendly, and co-operative member of the staff.
  • Be supportive and positive in interactions with team members and pupils.
  • Maintain excellent levels of appearance, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Value and be willing to promote the caring ethos of the school.
  • Be a fully qualified teacher (desirable).
  • Have a thorough up-to-date knowledge of the teaching year group curriculum (desirable).
