About the Role

The FCA is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join the Consumer Finance Directorate, which oversees policy and supervision for over 30,000 firms. This role is crucial for ensuring fair access to credit, supporting those in financial difficulty, and promoting timely debt advice. You will play a key part in protecting consumers, driving economic growth, and shaping the future of UK financial services.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues to understand user requirements and analyze data to generate insights.
  • Extract and transform data while developing innovative methods for analyzing large and complex datasets.
  • Apply analytical approaches to enhance understanding of one of the largest datasets received by the FCA.
  • Contribute to an experienced analytical team to share ideas and improve skills across the consumer credit sector.
  • Deliver insights that support the organization’s strategic objectives for colleagues across the business.
  • Create analytical value by producing meaningful outputs that inform decision-making and improve understanding of consumer credit issues.

Requirements

  • Advanced SQL and Python skills.
  • Prior experience working with large and complex data sets to deliver high-value analytical outputs.
  • Ability to present analysis clearly through written outputs and visualizations, articulating what the data shows and why it is important.
  • Experience researching and developing innovative analytical approaches and integrating them into sustainable solutions, services, or products.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech, presenting analysis in an engaging, accessible way and translating complex technical issues into understandable insights.
  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively by managing time, applying sound judgment, and delivering results in high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to manage a broad range of stakeholders by coordinating departmental activities, adapting communication style, and building consensus across diverse groups.
