About the Role
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the national digital newspaper, thenightly.com.au. Liaise with newsroom leaders to devise strategies to drive audience and reader engagement.
Responsibilities
- Curate the homepage to maximize engagement.
- Maximize direct click-through on the homepage through A/B headline testing.
- Analyze opportunities for content that attracts new audiences using tools such as Google Trends, Google Discover and Google Search Console.
- Identify opportunities for audience growth.
- Coordinate editorial teams by building story lists containing content that attracts new audiences and engages existing ones.
- Identify video-led content opportunities.
- Optimize digital content in line with best-practice SEO.
- Use data and analytics to monitor and report on audience behaviour, refine content strategy, and empower teams.
- Monitor breaking news locally, nationally and internationally and mobilize editorial teams for coverage.
- Maintain an editorial planner for proactive planning of major news events.
- Assist in ensuring social media, off-platform and content strategy goals are met.
Requirements
- Intimate knowledge of online publishing, social media and digital news.
- Strong understanding of digital audiences across all platforms.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Curious and engaged, with the ability to work alone or collaborate in a team environment.
