About the Role

Open Door Family Medical Center is seeking a Dental Assistant for its Port Chester, NY location to assist in the provision of dental services. The Dental Assistant performs a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties, including assisting the dentist, preparing patients for treatment, taking x-rays, and scheduling appointments. Candidates may be required to travel between sites up to 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

Provides chair-side assistance during dental treatment.
Ensures dental record, medical record, and encounter form are available for the dentist or dental hygienist.
Prepares patients for examinations and treatment.
Maintains supplies and instruments for dental procedures.
Performs laboratory and x-ray tasks under dentist supervision.
Schedules appointments for patients and verifies the need for return appointments.
Greets visitors and patients courteously and provides appropriate information.
Completes online training for Bio Hazardous Waste removal if assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
Dental assistance experience preferred.
Superior customer service skills and experience.
Passion for providing high-quality care to low-income populations.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Commitment to learning and continuous quality improvement.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with experience communicating with culturally diverse populations.
