About the Role
The Project Designer / Project Architect plays a critical leadership role within the I-Grace Project Development Group, overseeing the planning and execution of private high-end residential design and advisory services. This position is responsible for design direction, project documentation, timeline management, client relationship management, and team coordination to ensure architectural quality and successful project delivery. The role also involves providing design assist services and serving as the primary liaison between clients, consultants, and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of architectural projects from concept through construction administration.
- Produce contract documents, including specifications.
- Coordinate project documentation, design team efforts, staffing, and workflows.
- Support marketing and business development to secure new projects.
- Conduct client presentations and collaborate with project design teams.
- Align project goals with clients, contractors, and consultants during the pre-construction phase.
- Participate in internal and external professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to the development of standards, policies, and procedures.
- Interact with local agencies for approvals and code compliance.
- Build relationships with design partners for new project opportunities.
- Integrate interdisciplinary criteria to advance client design goals.
- Produce high-quality design documents using specified software.
- Oversee the production of presentation materials, contract deliverables, diagrams, 3D models, drawings, and renderings.
- Apply knowledge of building materials, systems, codes, and construction techniques.
- Ensure design deliverables and construction documents meet technical requirements through quality control.
- Expand the capabilities of the design studio in collaboration with the Studio Head.
- Exhibit initiative and problem-solving skills with attention to precision.
- Communicate effectively with project teams, consultants, and clients.
- Evaluate and constructively critique ideas at project, consultant, and client team levels.
- Mentor junior staff in design tasks, document production, and project execution.
- Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented studio culture.
- Lead construction administration activities, including site visits, RFI responses, submittal reviews, and punch lists.
- Monitor construction progress for compliance with approved documents.
- Coordinate with construction teams to resolve on-site issues.
- Lead pre-construction services in collaboration with construction studios.
- Provide owner's representation as an advisor to the client.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6-9 years of professional experience in residential projects (single-family, condo, or multi-family).
- Completion of a professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Project Management for the design or construction industry, or a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to professionally interface with clients and consultants.
- Experience at a residential architecture or interior design firm leading design.
- Familiarity with local codes and approval processes.
- Experience in construction documentation and construction administration.
