About the Role
Hydro One is seeking to partner with the Lines of Business to evaluate the impact of industry changes, government regulations, and OEB requirements on company operations. This role involves providing strategic direction, ensuring implementation, and identifying issues for senior management.
Responsibilities
- Supervise direct report staff and Inergi staff, making recommendations on pay, performance, and disciplinary matters.
- Plan, organize, schedule, and assign work, providing instruction and guidance.
- Partner with Lines of Business to evaluate the impact of industry changes, government regulations, and OEB requirements on operational accounting.
- Provide strategic direction and ensure appropriate implementation of operational accounting changes.
- Identify and raise issues with recommendations to senior management.
- Supervise and oversee operational accounting, monthly close, and reporting processes for transmission and distribution.
- Ensure timely and accurate issuance of management reports, including budget to actual, forecasting, and year-over-year analysis.
- Review results and significant issues with Director, Management Accounting & Reporting and Corporate Controller.
- Lead external and internal audit processes, including OEFC, OPA, IESO, OEB, and external financial audits.
- Identify and resolve audit issues proactively.
- Supervise and coordinate the Line of Business Operational Accounting forecast component of the business planning process.
- Ensure all known issues are accounted for appropriately in forecasts, rates, and government pronouncements.
- Provide oversight for operations forecast and operations budgets.
- Coordinate the preparation of briefing notes and summaries for senior management.
- Monitor and provide oversight for the monthly Operations Committee process, accounts receivable, customer billing, and revenue processes.
- Ensure financial, compliance, internal control, and productivity objectives are achieved.
- Ensure applicable processes support certifications required under securities legislation.
- Monitor, research, and communicate developments on operation and reporting work program issues, including regulatory developments.
- Ensure impacts to current results, business plan, and strategies are proactively developed and reviewed with senior management.
- Provide leadership for financial support to all Line of Business areas, including reporting, ad-hoc requests, and business planning/budgeting.
- Ensure results and recommendations are effectively communicated to senior management.
- Interact with Senior Executives to ensure their financial support requirements are met.
- Provide leadership to Inergi staff in performing their financial responsibilities to Senior Executives.
- Evaluate and implement strategies for streamlining and improving the timeliness, accuracy, and transparency of operational accounting and reporting processes.
- Support regulatory requirements, including witnessing, preparation of evidence, development of briefing material, responses to interrogatories, and hearing support.
- Ensure applicable outsourced services to Inergi are appropriately delivered and manage the relationship with Inergi.
- Ensure services provided under statements of work are fully carried out and negotiate new services as required.
