About the Role

Develops and executes multi-year transportation sourcing strategies aligned with business plans, managing a $100M portfolio. Sources multi-modal transport, owns supplier relationships, drives cost savings, enforces contract compliance, and tracks KPIs. Partners with Global Category Leadership and APAC regional cross-sector stakeholders, influences cross-functional teams, and implements procurement roadmaps.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships throughout J&J for optimal approaches and solutions.
  • Identify business requirements and partner with Transportation Operation and Global Transportation Procurement teams to deliver annual value improvements.
  • Support Global Category Leads on Global Transportation Procurement strategy.
  • Stay updated on the logistics industry and communicate updates to business partners.
  • Design and execute sourcing strategies for APAC Air and Ocean Freight Forwarding.
  • Deep dive country/market transportation spend characteristics and create aligned sourcing strategies.
  • Lead enterprise compliance activity of Transportation procurement related law in Japan.
  • Develop and leverage deep mode expertise to identify and implement cost-saving measures and service enhancements.
  • Lead cyclical sourcing events and mid-contract negotiations.
  • Establish robust value delivery pipeline for long-range financial planning.
  • Drive Supplier Enable Innovation initiatives.
  • Deliver cash flow improvement by optimizing payment terms.
  • Interface directly with Senior leadership of suppliers to assure alignment of J&J’s objectives.
  • Apply strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to build relationships and understand customer needs.
  • Participate in industry professional organizations and expand network.
  • Execute category strategies including sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract implementation, and performance.
  • Act as a single point of contact in the region to manage and prioritize Procurement segment initiatives.
  • Collaborate in business planning and provide procurement updates to segment leaders.
  • Manage supplier relationships, communicate strategy changes, execute collaborative initiatives, and monitor contracts.
  • Support J&J One Procurement initiatives such as sustainability and Payment Term improvement.
  • Execute any identified regional priorities or Global Transportation Procurement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Life Sciences or related fields.
  • More than 10 years of relevant proven experience in Procurement, with a focus in Supply Chain or Transportation as an advantage.
  • Broad-based understanding of business operations and practices and core Procurement areas of focus (Spend Management: Category Management and Supplier Management).
  • Strong leadership, communication, influencing, collaboration, and talent development skills.
  • Ability to prioritize requests and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives.
  • Ability to show judgment in developing new approaches and resolving issues.
  • Customer Orientation (building and maintaining strong relationships with J&J senior Management).
  • Ability to show strategic thinking.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Japanese with the ability to confidently present complex information.
  • Ability to continuously improve the organization.
  • Experienced professional with business experience in multiple roles across a variety of functional specialties including general management, R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain or a Technical field with at least 5+ years within a Procurement environment.
  • Strong level of credibility with internal customers and the supplier community.
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders.
  • Strong people management and development skills with more than 5 years of people management experience.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment.
  • Working experience in the Transportation industry is a plus.
