Responsibilities
- Assist in various cleaning and maintenance duties (e.g. mopping, cleaning mirrors, cleaning changerooms, disinfecting, dusting, painting, etc.)
- Know and follow all maintenance and cleaning procedures (WHMIS, SDS, safe lifting, etc.)
- Maintain regular communication with the department Manager
- Complete all online trainings, program training, and Why School
- Adhere to all COVID-19 rules and regulations
- Be an Ambassador for the YMCA
Requirements
- Minimum age: we consider volunteers as young as the summer they are entering grade 9
- Original Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening less than 6 months old for volunteers 18 years and older
- Capable of safe handling cleaning products and performing janitorial duties
- Genuinely Interested in being a part of the YMCA
- Reflect the YMCA’s core values of: Honesty, Caring, Respect, Responsibility and Inclusiveness
- Minimum commitment of 4 months, 2 hours/week
- All employees and volunteers are required to provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record and may require a Vulnerable Sector Search as a condition of their employment.
- Police Record checks are reviewed on an individual basis, and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirements of the position, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered gainful employment or a volunteer position.
