About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer for a manufacturing facility in Jamestown, NY. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials, supplies, and services necessary to support production operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining inventory levels, controlling costs, and ensuring timely delivery of goods.

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure materials, components, and services to meet production schedules
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to achieve cost savings
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to prevent shortages or overstock
  • Evaluate supplier performance and maintain strong vendor relationships
  • Process purchase orders and ensure accuracy of order details
  • Track and expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery
  • Resolve issues related to shipping delays, quality concerns, or discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
  • Collaborate with internal departments including production, engineering, and accounting

Requirements

  • Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (manufacturing environment preferred)
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving skills
