About the Role

Second Foundation is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Finance Manager to support the commercial and financial management of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This role is crucial for controlling budgets, forecasting cash flows, and managing commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with various internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Commercial and financial management of BESS projects across development, construction, and operations.
• Financial reporting, budget control, cash flow monitoring, and forecasting.
• Support of investment decisions through cost analysis, financial modeling, and sensitivity assessments.
• Commercial steering and contract management (EPC, O&M, grid connection, land leases).
• Collaboration with international teams and external partners, including accounting, audit, and tax advisors.
• Ensuring compliance with internal controls and supporting continuous improvement of financial and commercial processes.

Requirements

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in commercial, financial, controlling, or asset management roles.
• Experience in the renewable energy sector, ideally including BESS, solar, wind, or hybrid projects.
• Strong understanding of project-based commercial structures (CAPEX, OPEX, contracts, cash flows).
• Familiarity with EPC, O&M, and service contracts.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Fluent in English and German.
