About the Role

Join the YMCA Team as a Volunteer Day Camp Counsellor and be the spark that ignites the potential in others. This role involves providing high-quality day camp programming to children aged 4 to 16, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality day camp programming to children between 4 to 16 years old
  • Prepare and deliver exceptional day camp programming
  • Ensure safety and well-being of campers
  • Willing to work in indoor, outdoor and aquatic environments
  • Be on your feet for the majority of the workday, walking, running, jumping, and active playing
  • Be in the water with the children at locations that have pools or splash pads
  • Participation in weekly meetings
  • Follow all Health & Safety and Child Protection policies to keep the camp a safe place for all

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in a Day Camp Setting
  • If over the age of 18 a Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • A dedication to demonstrate the YMCA core values
  • All employees and volunteers are required to provide a current satisfactory Criminal Record and may require a Vulnerable Sector Search as a condition of their employment
  • Police Record checks are reviewed on an individual basis, and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirements of the position

Work Type

  • Hours may vary per week from 0 to 40 hours
  • Shift length can vary from 0 to 8 hours per day
  • Must be available for a minimum of 2 shifts a week, could work 0 to 5 days
