About the Role

As a Child & Youth Volunteer, you will assist staff in building relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and participants. You will demonstrate knowledge of the YMCA mission and core values, acting as a positive role model while helping to maintain fun and safe Child and Youth Programming.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children ages 3 months – 12 years
  • Assist with program preparation, clean up and transitions
  • Oversee and ensure proper procedures for signing in/out of children from the program
  • Address behaviours that are inconsistent with core values
  • Maintain regular communication with Manager/Supervisor of Child and Youth
  • Assist staff in delivering fun, safe and inclusive programming
  • Complete all online trainings, program training and Volunteer WHY School
  • Be an Ambassador for the YMCA

Requirements

  • Minimum age: consider volunteers as young as the summer they are entering grade 9
  • Original Criminal Reference Check with a Vulnerable Sector Screening less than 6 months old for volunteers 18 years and older
  • Minimum commitment of 4 months, 2 hours/week
