About the Role

The Executive Director will lead the Connor, Clark & Lunn Foundation, supporting the Board of Directors in a newly created role. This position is responsible for overseeing operations, strategic evolution, governance, and community impact, serving as the Foundation's sole dedicated employee while leveraging internal resources from the CC&L Financial Group.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of the Foundation’s new governance framework and strategic recommendations
  • Oversee all operational activities, including financial, administrative, and internal support coordination
  • Develop and maintain operational processes, policies, and reporting frameworks
  • Support the development and implementation of annual operating budgets and financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, legal, and regulatory obligations, including CRA requirements
  • Maintain and review risk management frameworks and governance documentation
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors
  • Coordinate Board and committee meetings, agendas, and minutes
  • Support the Applications Committee in reviewing grant applications
  • Develop reporting and tracking processes for grant decision-making and funding oversight
  • Assist the Board in developing governance policies, committee structures, and investment policies
  • Lead the administration and due diligence process for grant applications
  • Build and maintain systems to track grant applications and historical disbursements
  • Foster relationships with applicants, grantees, employees, and external stakeholders
  • Lead internal and external communications strategy
  • Promote awareness and engagement across CC&L Financial Group and affiliates
  • Develop strategies for volunteerism, employee engagement, and the annual Week of Giving
  • Act as the primary public representative and spokesperson for the Foundation

Requirements

  • Leadership experience within the Canadian charitable or nonprofit sector
  • Understanding of the Canadian charitable and social profit landscape
  • Experience working with volunteer Boards of Directors
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational execution
  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements for Canadian charitable organizations, including CRA compliance
  • Experience developing communications, engagement, or volunteer initiatives is an asset
