About the Role
CC&L Financial Group is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a platform engineering team focused on systems integration, control, and automation. This role involves coaching engineers, establishing practical standards, and resolving complex reliability and integration challenges within a growing, regulated investment technology environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of platform system integration and reliability engineers.
- Establish engineering standards for observability, SLOs, incident response, deployment safety, and infrastructure as code.
- Design and improve resilient system-to-system integrations across APIs, event streams, and cloud or hybrid environments.
- Develop infrastructure for systematic investment middle and back office operations, including workflow orchestration and data quality controls.
- Build automation and AIOps capabilities to reduce manual work and improve incident recovery.
- Take direct ownership of complex reliability, integration, and production control issues.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to implement reusable patterns and improve observability signal quality.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience in at least two of: site reliability engineering, observability, platform engineering, systems integration, production data engineering, release engineering, or production automation.
- Experience building or running production observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, ELK/OpenSearch, or Azure Monitor.
- Understanding of distributed systems and integration patterns including APIs, event-driven design, batch/file processing, and failure modes.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containers, and orchestration.
- Experience designing infrastructure or controls for investment management, capital markets, or high-availability regulated environments.
- Experience leading engineers through design review, coaching, and feedback.
