About the Role

This temporary 90-day position integrates unlicensed individuals into the salon workplace, providing training to become a licensed stylist. The role focuses on delivering exceptional customer service, effective communication, and learning salon business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Market and grow the business
  • Observe other stylists/managers and ask questions
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Control expenses
  • Promote and sell services and retail products
  • Answer telephones, stock and dust shelves, and sweep hair
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by manager
  • Promote and sell services and products, recommending additional services and retail products
  • Convey a complete understanding of pricing for available services
  • Coordinate promotional sales displays
  • Responsible for sales to walk-in retail customers
  • Understand customer needs, greet customers professionally by name, escort clients through the salon, and give salon tours
  • Estimate wait times for appointments
  • Answer the telephone promptly and professionally
  • Handle general complaints and refer customer service issues to the manager
  • Follow weekly salon schedules
  • Correctly charge for services and products, including proper discounting
  • Safeguard company assets by adhering to company policies and procedures
  • Perform tasks related to assisting salon operations
  • Communicate effectively with management, customers, and co-workers
  • Maintain and uphold safety standards
  • Attend work timely and consistently, including mandatory meetings and training
  • Adhere to all corporate policies, procedures, and work rules
  • Handle all POS transactions, including opening and closing the register

Requirements

  • Must graduate from an accredited cosmetology school and obtain the necessary license(s) within or before 90 days of hire-date
  • Ability to work in a dynamic salon environment
  • Good time management skills, good judgment, and the ability to multi-task
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to communicate in a professional and courteous manner
  • Computer knowledge including point-of-sale systems and data entry
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
  • Possess a valid appropriate license in the applicable state of employment (for promotion consideration)
  • Ability to perform license requirements, including cutting, styling, coloring, providing wax treatments, and washing and perming hair (for promotion consideration)
