About the Role
The Support Team Lead will be responsible for maintaining and running the Aquis and Aquis client exchange platforms. This role serves as the first point of contact for operational support, leading a team to ensure smooth service functioning, especially during market hours. It combines hands-on technical support with leadership and exposure to equity and derivatives trading.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day running and maintenance of the Aquis platforms.
- Lead and mentor a 1st line support team, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide first-line support, handle basic issues, and escalate calls appropriately.
- Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries.
- Perform troubleshooting and gather information for issue diagnosis and escalation.
- Maintain security reference data for securities across all platforms.
- Maintain and enhance the knowledge base and documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure monitored live operations of all platforms.
- Raise and deploy changes to support the running of multiple exchange platforms.
- Compile outage reports for production outages.
- Streamline processes.
- Ensure process maps are followed to reduce risk.
- Work with internal teams to enhance operational tool functionality and capture development requirements.
- Participate in release review meetings prior to upgrades.
Requirements
- Degree level qualification and/or 5 years of experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
- Prior experience in an operations or technical support role.
- Ability to troubleshoot across application, network, and infrastructure layers.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts simply.
- Experience with FIX Protocol.
- Strong understanding of UK and EU equity & derivative markets, including exchange workflows, order types, and trade lifecycle.
- Ability to write SQL queries and strong understanding of relational databases.
- Hands-on knowledge of Linux-based systems, with confidence in using command-line tools.
- Previous use of GIT version control or similar.
- Team leadership experience.
- Scripting experience e.g. bash/shell, python or similar (Desired).
- Experience with Binary Protocols (Desired).
- Dashboard creation in Grafana (Desired).
- Previous experience with Atlassian product suite (Desired).
- Basic networking concepts and troubleshooting – TCP/UDP, telnet, IP, Ports etc (Desired).
