About the Role

Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter School is seeking candidates who are hardworking, flexible, and innovative to empower students through leadership, character development, and college preparedness. Staff embody IAL traits of leadership: honesty, integrity, responsibility, caring, and restraint.

Responsibilities

• Makes initial and periodic evaluations of students’ speech and language and rehabilitation needs.
• Provides speech therapy to students in a school setting.
• Administers speech and language therapy treatments using appropriate modalities and techniques.
• Sets long and short-term goals in measurable terms and adjusts treatment plans/IEPs accordingly.
• Instructs students and their parents/caretakers in activities for between-session practice.
• Submits necessary documentation for services provided.
• Makes recommendations for referrals to other disciplines when appropriate.
• Consults with other therapists, teachers, and the Director of Academic Intervention Services for joint decisions on therapy continuation or dismissal.
• Attends Parent-Teacher Conferences prepared to discuss students’ academic growth.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Administration.

Requirements

• Master's degree required.
• Valid NYS Speech Language Pathology license and Certificate of Clinical Competency.
• A minimum of three years teaching experience.
• Must adhere to all speech therapy rules and regulations set forth by the NYS Department of Professional Regulations.
• An ability to work collaboratively.
• Spanish proficiency preferred.
