About the Role
The Cook – 1 supports the Food & Beverage department culinary team by preparing food before the cooking stage and cooking additional menu items as directed. This role involves safe food preparation and maintaining a clean, organized workspace under the guidance of a Sous Chef or Lead Line Cook.
Responsibilities
- Maintains high standards of safety, cleanliness, sanitation, and organization
- Presents themselves in a professional manner
- Prepares menu items or recipes under the direction of a Sous Chef or Lead Line Cook
- Follows recipes accurately
- Ensures all food items are produced safely and with quality
- Follows food safety protocols including sanitation, proper food holding temperatures, and storage of food
- Exhibits a friendly, helpful, and courteous demeanor to guests and associates
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests or associates
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Must obtain and maintain a St. Regis Tribal Gaming Work Permit
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must submit to and pass a drug test prior to employment confirmation
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and taste or smell
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 to 50 pounds
