About the Role

TTEC Digital seeks a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering organization day-to-day, reporting to the engineering leader. This role is responsible for delivery across all squads, managing the hiring pipeline, and setting standards for a senior-IC team to ship fast without ceremony in a startup environment within a larger company. The plan will change, and you will absorb the change, re-plan quickly, and keep the train moving.

Responsibilities

Own delivery across all squads, including timelines and quality.
Manage the hiring pipeline and maintain high standards.
Translate business requirements into technical scope for squads.
Oversee cross-squad dependencies and the engineering operating rhythm.
Act as the escalation path for blocked work, ensuring it is moved forward.
Conduct weekly demos of working software.
Lead tech and squad performance.
Drive AI-assisted engineering across the org as a velocity multiplier and measure the gain.

Requirements

10+ years of engineering leadership in SaaS or platform companies.
At least one stint scaling an organization from under 10 to over 30 IC engineers, ideally in a startup or startup-speed environment.
Delivery-first track record with shipped products on aggressive timelines at a weekly cadence without compromising quality.
Technically credible with the ability to read Go, Python, and TypeScript and contribute to architecture reviews.
Strong working knowledge of the modern AI stack, including LLMs, SLMs, RAG, knowledge graphs, agents, fine-tuning/training, and eval.
Ability to capture business requirements from executives and customers and translate them into technical needs.
Ability to re-plan around shifting tech and priorities quickly and manage the team through change without drama.
Experience in hiring and maintaining a high bar for talent.
Demonstrated ability to use AI tools daily and expect the organization to use them to multiply velocity.
