About the Role
Sprouts Farmers Market is seeking a Meat & Seafood Manager to oversee the sales and operations of the Meat & Seafood Department. This role involves leading a team, ensuring product quality and customer service, and managing department performance.
Responsibilities
- Plan, order, and prepare cutting lists for the Meat & Seafood Department.
- Process meat according to department goals and standards to maximize sales and gross profit.
- Ensure correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and displays.
- Engage and evaluate team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions.
- Make recommendations on merit increases via completing the bi-annual performance review process.
- Regularly attend and participate in in-store meetings.
- Recruit, hire, and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
- Exercise independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
- Take and document corrective actions, including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination when needed.
- Ensure maximum productivity and efficiency by creating and adjusting schedules and staffing levels.
- Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
- Lead a team that collaborates to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience.
- Serve as a Key Carrier for the store and/or act as a Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a basic knowledge of math, weights and measures.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of meat cutting experience in the grocery or restaurant industry, including leadership experience.
- Must be able to perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must be capable of standing for up to 4 hours continuously, and a total of 8 hours per shift.
- Must be able to walk up to 2 miles per 8 hours.
- Must be able to work inside a temperature-controlled area.
- Possess good vision for using sharp knives, band saw, grinder, sausage maker, box cutter, wrapping machine and tenderizer.
- Must be able to lift/carry products horizontally/vertically between 25 to 90 lbs., from 4” to 60”, a distance up to 10 feet for 20 hours.
- Must be able to use a pallet jack to move pallets horizontally up to 500 lbs., requiring a force of up to 85 lbs., a distance up to 100 feet for up to 5 hours.
- Must be able to horizontally move racks of products weighing up to 70 lbs., requiring a force up to 25 lbs., for a distance up to 50 feet for up to 10 hours.
- Must be able to move tables weighing up to 70 lbs., requiring a force greater than 35 lbs., a distance up to 2 feet for up to 1 hour.
- Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Possess a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
- Must have and show outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards Team Members and customers.
