About the Role
Supervises the firearms department, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and company policies. Responsible for merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, sales, staff development, and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Supports world-class customer service and ensures a pleasant shopping experience.
- Executes sales plans to meet or exceed financial goals.
- Opens and closes the store, holding responsibility for building keys and alarm codes.
- Obtains "Manager on Duty" responsibilities.
- Leads firearm compliance sales standards, ensuring adherence to ATF, state, and local laws, as well as company policies.
- Leads firearm safe handling, safety, operations, and customer experience standards.
- Maintains merchandising of firearms according to Corporate Office standards.
- Ensures all firearms operations tasks are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Partners with the Gun Vault Specialist Team to ensure compliance.
- Staffs the Department with service-oriented associates, participating in interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisals, and scheduling.
- Coaches and motivates associates to promote positive customer relations and a productive team environment.
- Oversees firearms compliance coaching and assists with investigations.
- Resolves customer and associate issues.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, evaluating performance, rewarding/disciplining associates, and resolving problems.
- Provides a legendary customer experience by assisting customers with buying decisions, identifying needs, making recommendations, and promoting programs like CLUB Membership and In-Store Pick-up.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- VALID NYS PISTOL PERMIT
- Minimum of 3-5 years in Retail Management
- Experience includes firearms safe handling practices
- Skilled in accurate identification of firearms and ammunition
- Knowledge of firearm classification and mechanical operation
Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret a variety of financial, legal, and technical information.
- Ability to read and analyze certain reports.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, associates, customers, and the public.
- Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups.
- Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, customers and with the Corporate Staff.
- Demonstrated use of Team concept of Management.
