About the Role
The Safety Monitor is directly responsible for all activities within the physical plant, ensuring civility among residents, visitors, and staff. This role controls facility access 24/7 and reports hazardous conditions to the Safety Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Ensures Safety Supervisors orders for the shift are followed.
- Performs and ensures all Detex patrols are completed on a half-hour basis.
- Communicates all pertinent information to the Safety Supervisor.
- Ensures all entries are made accurately in the security desk logbook.
- Obtains client signatures to complete the Daily Attendance Roster.
- Maintains a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Utilizes the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) - Client Assistance and Re-housing Enterprise System (CARES) to complete incident reports as needed.
- Adheres to the Agency dress code for Safety personnel and maintains a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
- Drives the facility van when required.
- Available for overtime when business needs require.
Requirements
- Must be certified in First Aid and CPR.
- Must be able to rotate shifts at the Director of Operations discretion and/or as needs of the business requires.
- Must maintain valid NYS Security License.
- Two years’ experience in commercial and/or residential security services.
- Must have an active New York State Security Guard License.
- Experience working with families / homeless population.
- Must meet all the requirements regarding the Security Guard Act of 1992.
- Must obtain a Fire Guard (F02) License.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule to meet job demands and deadlines.
- Periodically may bend, lift, and carry objects weighing up to seventy-five pounds.
