About the Role

Barnard College seeks a part-time instructor to teach two undergraduate courses in Slavic literature and culture during the 2026-2027 academic year. Special interest is given to courses that include multiple regions of the Slavic world and incorporate film and media studies.

Responsibilities

  • Teach RUSS3221UN Literature & Revolution (20th cent. lit.) in Spring 2027.
  • Teach one three-point course in Slavic literature and culture in Spring 2027.
  • Determine exact instructional assignments and other academic responsibilities by the Chair or Director.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree in a related discipline, with all requirements for the degree completed by the time of hiring offer.
  • Submit a CV.
  • Submit a statement of interest including teaching philosophy, most relevant prior teaching experience, and advanced pedagogical or relevant training.
  • Submit a teaching dossier including evaluations and sample syllabi relevant to the position description.
  • Identify three references, including one with direct knowledge of teaching capabilities, upon request for finalists.
