About the Role

Act as a Systems Safety Engineer on diverse engineering, transportation, and infrastructure design projects. You will work within established budgets, timelines, and quality assurance standards as part of a small team to deliver client projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare outline and detailed designs for multi- or single-disciplinary projects.
• Follow and verify procedures throughout project delivery.
• Report project progress updates to senior engineers, technical leads, and the project management team.
• Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff and others affected by SYSTRA's operations throughout the design lifecycle.
• Contribute to company-wide goals and business improvement initiatives.
• Pursue ongoing professional development with support from SYSTRA, aligned with professional body requirements.
• Undertake any other duties as required.
• Demonstrate behaviors aligned with SYSTRA’s framework by fostering excellence, collaboration, respect, and empowerment.
• Manage personal tasks and activities against budget costs and deliverables.
• Interact with internal disciplines, Project Managers, and Engineers for project delivery.
• Liaise with clients, joint venture partners, and external contractors, attending client meetings as needed.
• Interface with other disciplines and third parties/external engineers to ensure multi-disciplinary design development.
• Understand wider project contract and commercial interfaces and implications.

Requirements

• Good knowledge and experience within own discipline, with an understanding of the impact of other relevant or interfacing disciplines' engineering design and detailing.
• Knowledge of construction principles and standards relevant to own discipline.
• Experience working as a design engineer under supervision with responsibilities for deliverables within a work package/project.
• Production of quality deliverables in line with relevant standards and best practice.
• Awareness of commercial and contract conditions as they relate to the delivery of budgets/timescales.
• Understanding of the CSM Regulations and their application during the construction phase.
• Understanding of the Design Risk Assessment process and legal/regulatory requirements (e.g., CDM Regulations 2015, Common Safety Method Regulations 2013).
• Understanding of the Railway Interoperability Regulations and their application during the construction phase.

Skills

• Proficient in the use of relevant computer analysis programmes.
• Working towards professional registration with a professional body/engineering institute (e.g., ICE, IET, IMechE).
