About the Role
Our Project Engineering function is looking for a Senior Integration, Verification, Validation & Qualification (IVVQ) Engineer. As a Senior IVVQ Engineer, you are responsible for all aspects of system integration and system testing for solutions that meet the needs of our clients and users within the rail domain. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, develop integration and testing tools and approaches to implement solutions and ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of our products and solutions.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders for successful project delivery.
- Lead the identification and closure of site defects, technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and other engineering issues.
- Understand and lead project delivery processes, methodologies, and use defined tools as set out in the GTS Management System and project-specific IVVQ Management Plans and Engineering Management Plans.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest technologies, tools, and trends in IVVQ development.
- Support Work Package Managers with timely status provision, accurate progress measurement, and forecasting of remaining work by identifying change, variation, risk, and opportunity.
- Act as WPM and lead the IVVQ team operationally when appointed.
- Interface with the client to gain approval of test specifications and host acceptance testing activities.
- Write and/or approve test plans, test strategy documents, and test specifications.
- Execute test specifications, record, and/or approve results of test execution.
- Raise, investigate, and verify defects.
- Maintain agreed quality targets/standards.
- Identify and implement verification methods (IADT).
- Define and manage configuration control.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in systems development with a deep understanding of IVVQ principles and methodologies.
- Strong proficiency in SQL database querying and data analysis.
- Experience with networking technologies, including Cisco and Netgear switches.
- Windows and Linux network configuration, troubleshooting, and design review experience.
- Software testing experience, including test automation.
- Python scripting for automation and system tasks.
- Understanding of systems architecture and integration principles.
- Hands-on experience with Linux system configuration (CentOS, RHEL 6, Ubuntu) and bash scripting.
- Familiarity with IBM DOORS for requirements management.
- Practical knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA.
- Awareness of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven experience in testing and integrating complex systems applications.
- Solid understanding of systems architecture and design patterns.
- Varied experience working in an engineering environment and understanding of engineering delivery methodologies.
- Proven ability to define, develop, and implement IVVQ tools.
- Experience of SW tools and deployments.
- Drivers Licence – Preferred.
- IRSE Electronics Systems Licence – Nice to have.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, motivation, and inter-personal skills.
- Ability to build and sustain strong working relationships at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, mentor, and coach a diverse team.
- Demonstrable experience in achieving buy-in from strong technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving ability, trade-off skills, and attention to detail.
