About the Role

The Director of Respiratory Care/Instructor is responsible for the direction, management, and administration of the Respiratory Care AAS Program, as well as teaching courses within the program. This role requires ongoing professional development to maintain and upgrade capabilities. The Director supervises full-time clinical education staff and teaching faculty, reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. This is a full-time faculty position requiring at least thirty days of work during the summer annually.

Responsibilities

Direct and manage all pending Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accreditation requirements.
Ensure the Respiratory Care Program offers rigorous instruction and outcomes to meet CoARC and New York State Education Department standards.
Prepare and submit CoARC annual report of outcomes assessment.
Collaborate with the Advisory Committee and Medical Director to ensure curriculum integrity and relevance.
Participate in the supervision and evaluation of the Coordinator of Clinical Education and program faculty.
Manage the Respiratory Care Program annual budget in conjunction with the Dean.
Oversee the requisition and maintenance of instructional equipment and supplies.
Perform other assigned activities by the Dean and/or Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
Teach courses in the program as determined by program need and qualifications.
Promote the program and recruit qualified students.
Advise and counsel students enrolled in the Respiratory Care program.

Requirements

An earned baccalaureate degree in respiratory care.
New York State Respiratory License required within 90 days of hire.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
Minimum of four (4) years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care.
Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a faculty member, clinical instructor, and/or preceptor for an accredited Respiratory Care program.
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Computer proficiency and familiarity with instructional technology.
Demonstrated professionalism, positive work ethic, and positive attitude reflecting integrity and empathy.
Ability to pass medical clearance and background check required by affiliation facilities.
Demonstrated capacity for productive collaborative work with a diverse group of colleagues.
Complete CoArc Key Personnel Training within 1 year of hire or meet CoArc approved background requirements.
Meet all current and ongoing standards as Key Program Personnel outlined by CoArc.
