About the Role
Senior DevOps Engineers own the infrastructure, automation, and deployment systems that keep Point One’s services running reliably at scale. This role is responsible for building and operating infrastructure that serves real-time corrections to hundreds of thousands of devices, spanning cloud and bare-metal environments, ensuring availability and repeatability for mission-critical positioning.
Responsibilities
- Provision and manage cloud, on-premise, and bare-metal infrastructure using Terraform and SaltStack.
- Build reproducible, version-controlled environments.
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Containerize services with Docker and orchestrate them with Kubernetes.
- Own observability - metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting (Prometheus, Grafana).
- Design for high availability, graceful degradation, and recovery.
- Identify and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks and reliability risks.
- Participate in on-call rotation and lead incident response.
- Build self-service tooling and clear processes that unblock engineers.
- Collaborate with backend, embedded, firmware, and customer-facing teams.
- Follow security and access-management best practices.
Requirements
- Proven professional experience (5+ years) in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
- Proven ability to provision and operate production infrastructure.
- Proven ability to decompose high-level goals into actionable tasks, realistic schedules, and clear milestones.
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud.
- Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
- Experience with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) in production.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).
- Experience with observability and monitoring tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
- Comfortable scripting and automating in any general-purpose language.
- Solid understanding of networking, Linux systems, and security fundamentals.
- Experience with programming languages (Go, Java, Python, Node).
- Experience operating hybrid cloud and on-premise / bare-metal fleets at scale.
- Background in highly available or mission-critical systems.
- Experience supporting real-time or low-latency services.
- Experience with distributed and clustered data stores (e.g., ScyllaDB, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with security and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2).
