About the Role
First Place for Youth is seeking passionate individuals to support foster youth in their transition to adulthood. This role provides essential operational, data entry, and programmatic support to the San Francisco Independent Living Skills Program, ensuring compliance and efficient communication with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Provide center operations support, key data entry, and clerical/programmatic support to the San Francisco Independent Living Skills Program.
- Ensure compliance with County of San Francisco reporting and eligibility requirements.
- Oversee office operations, including county documentation, supply ordering, and equipment maintenance.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between First Place for Youth, funders, and service partner organizations.
- Manage ILSP functions as a resource and referral center, including partnerships, life skills workshops, and community events.
- Answer multi-line telephone, greet youth, and provide support in the center.
- Maintain scheduling database and collect information from visiting youth.
- Provide general program support, including filing, faxing, errands, and phone calls.
- Ensure youth files are up-to-date and assist with out-of-county referrals.
- Distribute mail, log checks, and forward to the Finance department.
- Maintain a neat work environment and order office supplies.
- Perform office equipment maintenance.
- Attend meetings and supervision.
- Assist in planning and preparation for center site visits, meetings, activities, and events.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate SF ILSP workshops.
- Conduct weekly outreach for SF ILSP workshops.
- Monitor and maintain the food cabinet.
- Enter data accurately and on time for program evaluation.
- Assist with large mailings/copying jobs.
- Close down the center at the end of the day.
- Open the center one Saturday a month for drop-in services.
- Perform other evening and weekend events as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- BA strongly preferred; can be substituted for four or more years of program administration experience.
- At least one-year experience working with youth or in a youth program.
- Strong dedication to cultural competency that removes barriers.
- At least one-year experience as an administrative assistant or data entry.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to have positive interactions with youth in foster care or on probation.
- Good office skills, including photocopying, faxing, filing, phones, and typing.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- High level of personal accountability for work quality and impact.
- Willingness to work collaboratively and independently.
- Friendly, cooperative, and flexible demeanor.
- Good time management skills, including punctuality.
- Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, and handle complex situations in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
- Experience with database systems.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to research, assimilate, and analyze information.
- Ability to compose engaging messages and present data clearly.
- High level of professionalism in work and interactions.
- Availability for occasional evening and weekend work.
- Availability for some travel as needed.
