About the Role

The Manager, Product Portfolio is accountable for the commercial success, roadmap execution, and lifecycle performance of an assigned product portfolio. This role operates as the end-to-end product leader, responsible for translating portfolio priorities into actionable plans, guiding execution, and ensuring alignment to member needs, organizational strategy and commercial objectives. This is a hands-on role that balances execution leadership with accountability for product outcomes, operating as the portfolio owner, commercial steward, agile leader, and backlog decision maker.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain product and portfolio-level roadmaps aligned to portfolio priorities.
  • Translate market needs, SME insight, regulatory considerations, and commercial objectives into clear, actionable plans.
  • Sequence initiatives based on value, impact, and delivery capacity.
  • Manage interdependencies, risks, trade-offs across products, and an operating cadence.
  • Ensure alignment between roadmap commitments and delivery outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate revenue, margin, and cost drivers to inform product decisions.
  • Partner with the Technical SME to co-manage product performance.
  • Evaluate investment trade-offs and recommend allocation decisions.
  • Contribute to pricing evolution, packaging strategy, and monetization models.
  • Support decision-making through analysis of performance data and market feedback.
  • Serve as Scrum Master for assigned product initiatives.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog to ensure alignment with portfolio goals and expected outcomes.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies and ensure disciplined execution.
  • Drive clarity on scope, acceptance criteria, and delivery timelines.
  • Remove blockers and escalate delivery risks when required.
  • Partner with Product & Growth Marketing to support go-to-market readiness.
  • Ensure products are commercially prepared for launch, including positioning, packaging, and enablement.
  • Monitor post-launch performance and support ongoing iteration.
  • Identify opportunities for adoption, expansion, and member renewal optimization.
  • Work closely with Technical SMEs to define product requirements and validate solutions.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing on experimentation and demand generation.
  • Coordinate with Customer Experience and Commercial Operations to support adoption and renewal.
  • Align with Communications to ensure consistent product and brand messaging.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in product management, product ownership or similar roles within a professional services, content, SaaS, or association environment.
  • Experience working within a membership-based organization, regulatory body, or professional association is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of how associations balance member value, commercial sustainability, governance, and reputation.
  • Proven ability to manage product backlogs, prioritize work, and support roadmap delivery.
  • Familiarity with agile practices and working within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to interpret product performance data.
  • Strong understanding of accounting disciplines, public practice, or regulated professional environments.
  • Ability to partner effectively with subject matter experts and technical stakeholders.
