About the Role
The Senior Financial Analyst supports financial management by preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual analyses. This role partners with practices to provide profitability analysis, client analysis, headcount reporting, and ad hoc requests, requiring a strong understanding of the 3E billing system, financial dashboards, and analytic tools like cube and Power BI.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Practice(s) to help them reach their financial and strategic goals by gaining a thorough understanding of the Practice and offering data-driven recommendations for action.
- Assess quarterly profitability and conduct break-even analysis by utilizing key metrics such as hours, leverage, and expenses, providing comparisons on a monthly, quarterly, and year-over-year basis, identifying trends, delivering insights, and making recommendations to management.
- Contribute to the firm’s business development by delivering insights into our clients' financial performance, analyzing trends, and formulating their strategy.
- Lead coverage of key clients, provide analysis to inform decisions and drive delivery of strategic client objectives.
- Build relationships with Partners and business leaders to ensure appropriate support of strategic initiatives.
- Assist with various Firmwide initiatives, including revenue projections, various promotion review processes and the annual business planning process.
- Create monthly and ad-hoc profitability analyses.
- Support the analysis of current Client/Matter metrics as well as Office/Section metrics.
- Engage in various special projects related to profitability, client analysis, reporting enhancements, and process simplification for the department.
- Adhere to Firm policy and procedures, escalating issues when appropriate.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of financial analysis experience in legal or related field
- Demonstrate flexibility and initiative with respect to handling multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a Global team
- Ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
- Experience with 3E or other legal billing system preferred
