About the Role
The Facilities Technician Specialist - HVAC serves as the primary technical expert for the repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment across assigned club locations. This role ensures all HVAC systems are fully operational through preventative maintenance, expert repairs, vendor management, and technical training for other facilities staff.
Responsibilities
- Ensure proper operation of HVAC systems within all club areas.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace serviceable HVAC components.
- Monitor Energy Management Systems and coordinate with vendors.
- Execute and monitor the implementation of the Corporate HVAC Strategy.
- Inspect and verify the operation and safety of HVAC components.
- Collaborate with General Managers and Facilities Technicians on maintenance needs and repairs.
- Enter HVAC issues into the Work Order System.
- Perform OSHA safety checks and adhere to safety guidelines.
- Execute preventative maintenance according to corporate strategy and manufacturer specifications.
- Submit completed preventative maintenance and service reports.
- Facilitate and coordinate district-level special projects.
- Provide ongoing technical support and training for district Facilities Technicians.
- Respond to emergency service requests.
- Manage and hold HVAC vendors accountable for outsourced projects.
- Ensure adequate maintenance coverage through proper scheduling.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC service and repairs or in-house facilities maintenance.
- E.P.A. Type Universal Certification.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, squatting, reaching, and standing for long periods.
- Must be available for overtime work.
- Must maintain a reliable vehicle for travel between club locations.
- Must maintain and inventory a personal set of required hand tools.
- Must wear 24 Hour Fitness approved uniform.
- Ability to travel by car up to 70% of the time.
Skills
- Advanced HVAC troubleshooting and repair.
- Reading and interpreting HVAC blueprints and schematics.
- Knowledge of refrigerants and internal system pressure analysis.
- Knowledge of high voltage systems and AC/DC circuits.
- Proficiency with refrigerant recovery equipment and vacuum pumps.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Knowledge of EPA, state, and local HVAC regulations.
- Proficiency with personal computers and office software.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing codes.
- Experience with DDC controls and computerized air quality meters.
