About the Role
The Senior Property Accountant provides reliable and timely financial reporting for properties managed by CPMI, while offering efficient support to property managers and administrators to ensure superior investor returns.
Responsibilities
- Maintain property accounting records for the assigned commercial portfolio
- Generate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Assist in reconciliation of capital project costs
- Complete analysis of all capital costs incurred
- Enter journal entries and A/R adjustments
- Prepare annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) and Tax final billing adjustments
- Prepare year-end audit working paper files and maintain amortization schedules
- Perform month-end activities including balance sheet and account reconciliations
- Assist with budget preparation
- Support property administration staff in financial management
- Respond to inquiries from owners and the property management team
- Analyze property records and address outstanding issues
- Attend monthly financial review meetings
- Monitor cash flow for assigned properties
- Prepare monthly HST reconciliation
- Communicate professionally with employees and clients
- Support property management staff in responding to financial inquiries from tenants and vendors
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting or a related field
- Three years of accounting experience within the commercial property management industry
- Advanced MS Office skills, specifically Excel and Word
- Experience working with Yardi
- Understanding of Real Estate terminology
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
